- <p> DIED. BILL BIXBY, 59, TV actor and director; of prostate cancer;
- in Los Angeles. Bixby brought likable good looks and a sly way
- of reading a line to leading roles in a variety of TV series:
- My Favorite Martian (1963-66), in which he played cheerfully
- besieged reporter Tim O'Hara opposite Ray Walston's interplanetary
- visitor; The Courtship of Eddie's Father (1969-72); The Magician
- (1973-74) and The Incredible Hulk (1978-82), the setting for
- Bixbys surprisingly poignant performance as a scientist who,
- when enraged, turned into a green-skinned giant (played by body
- builder Lou Ferrigno). Even as he battled cancer, Bixby directed
- TV, most recently NBC's sitcom Blossom.
